OGA Golf Course to host 124th PNGA Women’s Amateur
One of North America’s oldest amateur golf championships will soon assemble in the backyard of the Oregon Golf Association for its 124th outing.
The OGA Golf Course in Woodburn, Ore. will host the 124th Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur from July 13-17, 2026. The scheduling marks the first time the historic championship – or any other administered by the PNGA – will be held at the course, which is the home venue the OGA, a USGA Allied Golf Association.
First opened in 1993, OGA GC was designed by Bill Robinson, on sandy soils of what had previously been a hazelnut orchard some 30 miles south of Portland. Its affiliation with the OGA has allowed it to be an ideal destination for several of its championships, among them the Oregon Women’s Stroke Play in 2004, 2014 and 2024, as well as the Oregon Amateur Championship in 2003 and 2014. The venue has also hosted numerous USGA Qualifiers and high school championships.
“As Oregon’s home of amateur golf, our purpose is to support and showcase championship-level amateur competition,” said General Manager Ryan Garry. “Bringing together the top women golfers from across the Pacific Northwest is an exciting opportunity to highlight both the strength of the field and the quality of our facility.”
OGA GC’s length – just over 6,500 yards – may not be immense, but a round there is defined by tricky course angles into protected greens, all woven through marshlands, valleys and hazelnut orchards of the northern Willamette Valley. Imperative for players is patience and precision over multiple rounds.
The PNGA Women’s Amateur was first held in 1899, the year of the PNGA’s founding. It has been held in all but four years since, with the exclusions made only for World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic. In recent years, the strength of the championship’s field has been reflected in its national and international reach, with its previous two champions – Jazy Roberts and Justice Bosio – playing out of Australia. Other past champions include Lauren Sung, Lauryn Nguyen, and Mary Scott Wolfe.
The strength of the 2026 field is ensured because the championship is once again a USGA Exemption Event, with the winner earning an exemption into the 2026 U.S. Women’s Amateur, to be held August 4-9, 2026 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn.
Historically, the list of champions also includes PNGA Hall-of-Famers Jo Ann Washam, Peggy Conley, Pat Harbottle, Edean Ihlanfeldt and Marian (McDougall) Herron, among others.
“This championship is a great reflection of how deep and competitive women’s golf is in the Northwest,” said Garry. “The field is full of accomplished players who have competed at high levels locally, regionally, and nationally. Hosting them at OGA Golf Course underscores the quality of talent in this region and reinforces the Northwest’s reputation as a leader in developing strong amateur players.”
The Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur is one of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
