Round Two Recap: PNGA Senior and Super Senior Men’s Amateur

The second round of the 51st Pacific Northwest Golf Association Senior Men’s Amateur Championship and 6th Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship was played today at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Wash. The 54-hole event concludes tomorrow, Thursday, June 11th.
Two-time champion Tom Brandes of Bellevue, Wash. and Paul Houvener of Mill Creek, Wash. will square-off tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in the final pairing tied for the lead at five-under-par 139.

 

Brandes followed a round-one score of three-under-par 69 with a two-under-par 70 today to put himself in a tie for the lead. He put together an impressive stretch in the middle of his round, making five birdies between holes 7 and 12. In round one, Houvener jumped out to a sizable lead with a 6-under-par 66. Today he posted a one-over-par 73, including a birdie on hole 18 to remain tied for the lead.

 

John Bracken on Seattle, Wash. and Lancy Lundy of Pemberton, BC are tied for third place at two-under-par 142 after both shooting rounds of even-par 72 today.

 

Tom Prevost of McMinnville, Ore. stands in fourth place alone at one-under-par 143, while Michael Kloenne of West Linn, Ore. pulled himself back to even-par 144, after a round-two score of four-under-par 68.

 

Senior division tee times run from 9:10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in tomorrow’s final round.

 

In the second round of the Super Senior Amateur Championship, 2012 champion Gay Davis of Portland, Ore. shot a two-over-par 74 to put himself into a tie for the lead with Ron Garland of Bozeman, Mont. at one-over-par 145. Garland and Davis tee off in the final round tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

 

Rick Weihe of Bellingham, Wash. posted a second-round score of three-over-par 75 to put himself in the final group, only two behind Garland and Davis at three-over-par 147.

 

Super Senior division tee times run from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
