Round two recap: Senior & Super Senior Men’s and Women’s Amateur Championships

The second rounds of the Pacific Northwest Senior & Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championships were conducted today at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Wash.

After day two, Michael Jackson of Redmond, Ore. maintains his lead in the Senior Men’s; Denny Taylor of Gladstone, Ore., Greg Tatham of Lewiston, Idaho and David Hunter of Federal Way, Wash. are tied atop the Super Senior Men’s; Michelle Hood of Sammamish, Wash. leads the Senior Women; and Marcia Fisher of Molalla, Ore. continues to lead the Super Senior Women.

Jackson followed up yesterday’s round of 68 with a 1-under 71 in today’s second round to stay atop the leader board in the Senior Men’s Championship. Five-time champion Tom Brandes sits right on the heels of Jackson at 4-under par entering tomorrow’s final round.

In the Super Senior Men’s Championship, Tatham and Hunter who fired rounds of 73 and 74 respectively,  joined the party at the top of the leader board with overnight leader Denny Taylor. Taylor shot a 3-over 75 in today’s second round.

Michelle Hood who entered the day in a tie for first, fired 4-over 76, the low round of the day, in the Senior Women’s Championship to remain atop the leader board entering the final round. Hood, who is looking for her first PNGA title, will have a four shot lead going into the final round.

In the Super Senior Women’s Championship, Marcia Fisher maintained her eight shot lead on the field after firing an 8-over 79 in today’s round. The Pacific Northwest Golf Hall of Famer is seeking her first PNGA title since winning the Women’s Mid-Amateur in 2002.

The four championships are being held concurrently, and are conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA). The Senior Men’s Amateur includes men 55 years of age or older while the Super Senior Men’s Amateur includes men age 65 years or older. The Senior Women’s includes women 50 years or older, and the Super Senior Women’s includes women 65 and older.

The Senior and Super Senior Men’s and Women’s amateur championships are four of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors, and seniors conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest. View full championship schedule.
