Scott Johnson and Erik Hanson to Meet in Master-40 Final

Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash. and Scott Johnson of  Richland, Wash. will meet tomorrow, July 16 in the final match of the 40th Pacific Northwest Men’s Master-40 Amateur Championship.

Johnson defeated Tom Brandes of Bellevue, Wash., 3 and 2 on Wednesday afternoon after quickly taking down Jim Ostrander of Kennewick, Wash. in this morning’s quarterfinals.

Hanson beat Chris Sonnichsen of Richland, Wash. 3 and 2 in the quarterfinals, and met Richland Wash.’s Dick Cartmell in the afternoon semifinal where he advanced with a 4 and 3 victory.

Hanson is looking to become a three-time champion in the PNGA Men’s Master-40, after claiming the title in 2007 and 2010. Hanson would join Tom Flynn, who won three times consecutively from 1977 to 1979, as just second player to win this championship three times.

 

Johnson and Hanson’s final match will begin tomorrow, Thursday, July 16 at 7:30 a.m. at Meadow Springs Country Club. Following the Championship Flight final match, the remaining five flights will play their final matches.
