The Sweet Life at Apple Tree

Over the past decade, the Apple Tree Resort Community in Yakima, Wash. has evolved from one of the region’s premier golf courses to the Pacific Northwest’s best value in golf course living.

According to Apple Tree General Manager Jon Kinloch, the response has been tremendous.

“While some of our residents come from the Yakima area and are downsizing from acreage to a more manageable fairway lot, others are coming from real estate markets throughout the Northwest where the dollar just doesn’t go very far anymore,” he says. “When they see the quality of what we can build for them, the amenities that we currently offer and those that are coming in the near future, and a price point that makes sense, it’s easy to see why people are making Apple Tree their home.”

Entering the fall of 2023, Apple Tree has several fairway homesites available in The Fairways, a secure gated community with spectacular views of holes one, three, eight and 18.

In addition, Apple Tree will launch Golden Ridge in 2024, a new 30-lot gated subdivision with oversized homesites that will include fenced backyards.

According to Kinloch, balancing fairway and non-fairway offerings has been an important part of Apple Tree’s growth. “While living on a fairway is ideal for some, families with young children or residents with pets often prefer oversized lots where a fenced backyard away from the golf course makes more sense for their lifestyle,” he says. “It’s important that we offer both options.”

Apple Tree’s 17th hole featured in Golf Digest

While Apple Tree’s signature 17th hole has received its share of regional and national accolades over the years, none may be more prestigious than the recognition received in a March 2023 Golf Digest article. PGA Head Professional Kevin Anderson, who is featured in the article’s photo, sincerely appreciates the recognition.

“We are certainly proud of the accolades our 17th hole receives, and while it is often what attracts people to Apple Tree, I’m always excited to hear how much golfers enjoy the rest of the track,” he said. “There are so many exciting holes with risk-reward opportunities for players of all abilities. Add to that the scenic rolling terrain of 100-year-old apple orchards, where you can literally pick an apple right off the tree, and you have all the makings of an outstanding golf experience.”
