USGA’s Thomas Pagel gives update of Rules modernization at IAGA conference

The 51st Annual Conference of the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA) was held November 5-8, 2017 at the We-Ko-Pa Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The feedback period for the proposed changes ended on August 31, and the United States Golf Association (and R&A) is now in the process of the review and approval period, before announcing the finalized changes in the spring of 2018. Pagel is the senior director of the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status for the USGA.

The IAGA serves as a medium for golf administrators to exchange information, techniques and other data relating to the game of golf and establish channels of communication among all of the world’s golfing fraternities. Members of the IAGA are golf administrators of state and regional amateur golf associations and other invited national golf-related organizations. These administrators manage the affairs of their respective golf associations in various capacities. The IAGA has members from the USGA, Golf Canada, and most of the state, regional and provincial golf associations throughout North America. Administrators from several other countries hold memberships as well.
