Brackets set for PNGA Junior Boys’ and Girls’ Amateurs; McVicker and Piron co-medal in Boys’, Conser medals in Girls’

Nampa, Idaho – After two rounds of stroke play qualifying, Cade McVicker (West Linn, Ore.) and Reid Piron (Boise, Idaho) earned co-medalist honors for the 70th Pacific Northwest Junior Boys’ Amateur, while Madeleine Conser of (Portland, Ore.) earned such honors for the 69th PNGA Junior Girls’ Amateur.

The match play brackets for the two championships, which are being held concurrently this week at RedHawk Golf Course in Nampa, Idaho, are now set.

McVicker earned the honors by turning in rounds of 69-63, while Piron did so through a 65-67 pair, adding up to an 8-under par total for both. Both players finished a single stroke ahead of Carson Krauss (Grants Pass, Ore.) and Christian Harlow (Vancouver, Wash.), who both tied for second.

McVicker is a rising senior at West Linn (Ore.) High School, and won the 2024 National Tour OR Spring Classic. Piron is a rising freshman at the University of San Diego, who won three team championships and one individual state title while at Boise High School.

Other notable players to advance to match play in the Junior Boys’ Amateur include:

  • No. 6 seed Mason Ho (Portland, Ore.) – Won 2024 PNGA Junior Boy’s Amateur.
  • No. 10 seed Wyatt Williams (Kimberly, Idaho) – Won 2025 Idaho Junior Amateur.
  • No. 12 seed Theodore Snyder (Gig Harbor, Wash.) – Won the 2024 WJGA State Championship.
  • No. 19 seed Elliot Ro (Sammamish, Wash.) – Won 2025 Washington State Junior Amateur.

In the Junior Girls’ Amateur, Conser carded rounds of 72-67 to finish at 1-under par through 36 holes; she was the only player to go even or better. She finished the stroke play portion

two strokes ahead of second-place finishers Tatum Otto (Bellevue, Wash.) and Ella Wilson (Hayden, Idaho).

Earlier this year, Conser won the Oregon Junior Amateur. She is currently No. 218 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and No. 800 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).

Other notable players to advance to match play in the Junior Girls’ Amateur include:

  • No. 4 seed Amy Seung Hyun Lee (Langley, B.C.) – Won 2024 PNGA Junior Girls’ Championship, 2024 BC Women’s Amateur Championship.
  • No. 6 seed Ira Upadhyay (Issaquah, Wash.) – Three 2025 WJGA top-5 finishes. Fifth place in 2024 WJGA State Championship.

 

For the Boys’ championship, 32 players advanced to match play, while 16 players advanced for the Girls’ championship.

All upcoming matches will be contested over 18 holes in a single-elimination format, with the exception of the two final matches, which will both be played over 36 holes on Friday, August 15.

These championships are two of 11 major, regional, amateur championships for men, women, juniors and senior conducted annually by the PNGA throughout the Northwest.
