Evans and Hodgkinson to square off in PNGA Junior Boys’ final; Knox and Wong to meet in Junior Girls’
Pullman, Wash. – Ethan Evans of Mercer Island, Wash. will face Collin Hodgkinson of Beaverton, Ore. in the final match of the 66th PNGA Junior Boys’ Amateur Championship; while Kennedy Knox of Normandy Park, Wash. will square off against Emma Wong of Bellevue, Wash. in the final of the 65th PNGA Junior Girls’.
The final matches for both championships will each be contested over 36 holes on Friday, August 20 at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash. The Junior Boys’ final match will tee off at 7:30am, and the Junior Girls’ final will tee off at 7:40am.

Evans, the No. 5 seed in the bracket, earned a spot in tomorrow’s match by defeating Max Herendeen of Bellevue, Wash. 5&3 in this morning’s quarterfinal round before dispatching Sam Renner of Bend, Ore. in this afternoon’s semifinal by a score of 5&4.
Hodgkinson, the No. 2 seed in the bracket, earned a spot in the final match after downing Caden Martinsen of Spokane, Wash. 7&6 in the quarterfinals and defeating Benjamin Borgida of Shoreline, Wash. in the semifinal round by a score of 4&3.
The 17-year-old Evans will be a senior at Mercer Island High School, and has verbally committed to attend Duke University in the fall of 2022 to play golf. Earlier this month, he won the Washington Junior Golf Association (WJGA) Boys’ State Championship for the second year in a row.
The 17-year-old Hodgkinson is a senior-to-be at Mountainside High School (Beaverton, Ore.) and has verbally committed to play golf at Oregon State University after graduation. Just last week, he played for team Oregon in the Eddie Hogan Cup and finished T7 individually.
In the junior girls’, Knox won her morning quarterfinal match 2&1 over Jade Gruher of Camas, Wash. before defeating Taylor Mularski of Spokane, Wash. in this afternoon’s semifinal by a score of 5&4 to secure a spot in the final match.
Wong earned a spot in the final match by winning her quarterfinal match 4&2 this morning over Triana Fernando of Kirkland, Wash. and defeating Sofia Fuenmayor of Beaverton, Ore. 1 up in this afternoon’s semifinal.
This summer, Knox has won the Washington Women’s Amateur, the SWGA City Amateur, and the WJGA Girls’ State Championship, the first player in history to accomplish this feat. She will compete for the University of Washington Women’s Golf Team this fall.
At just 15-years-old, Wong is the youngest player remaining across both championships. Earlier this month she placed 3rd in the WJGA Girls’ State Championship in the Girls 14-15 age division.
The two championships are being held concurrently August 16-20, and are being conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA). Both championships are considered as counting events for the World Amateur Golf Ranking, as well as AJGA Performance Based Entry.
