Amanda Jacobs falls in semifinal match at U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur
After winning her morning quarterfinal match, the run for Portland’s Amanda Jacobs at the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur championship came to an end on Wednesday afternoon after she was defeated by Aliea Clark of New York, N.Y. in the semifinals.
Jacobs squared off against defending U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion Ina Kim-Schaad in the morning quarterfinal match. Jacobs took her first lead in the match on the third hole and never relinquished it, winning the tightly contested match by a score of 1 up.
In the afternoon semifinal match, Jacobs got off to a slow start, but managed to tie things up by the eighth hole. Her opponent, Aliea Clark, then caught fire on the back nine winning four holes to coast to a 4&2 victory.
Jacobs was the lone player from the Northwest remaining in the championship. She is a three-time PNGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year (2015-17) and this summer she won the PNGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship for the fourth time.
