Quarterfinals and Semifinals underway at PNGA Junior Amateur championships

Corvallis, Ore. – After the first day of match play at the 69th PNGA Junior Boys’ and 68th Junior Girls’ Amateur Championships, just 16 players remain standing—eight boys and eight girls. The event is taking place this week at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore.

Matches in the Boys’ Rounds of 32 and 16, as well as matches in the Girls’ Round of 16, were contested on Wednesday as the region’s top junior players battled it out on the first day of match play.

Junior Boys’ Quarterfinal matchups

  • (3) Clara Ding (White Rock, B.C.) vs (11) Carly Ikei (Gig Harbor, Wash.)

Both championships began with 36 holes of stroke play qualifying (August 12-13) to determine seeding for the match play portion of the championships. For the Boys’ championship, 32 players advanced to match play, and for the Girls’, 16 players advanced.

All matches will be contested over 18 holes in a single-elimination format, with the exception of the two final matches, which will both be played over 36 holes on Friday, August 16.
